A Hero Appears

As soon as the game starts the player should:

Walk down the mountain top;
Pick up the drachma on the plateau below;
Go down into the area with the Cyclop.

The Cyclop can be avoided or beaten. There are some spears in this area and some sheep that can be thrown at enemies.

Then the player should:

Walk down into the clearing with some houses.
Collect the goodies: drachmas, spears, the hawk. Some can be found under houses and sheep (it is only possible to raise houses if playing as Hercules).
Go back up to where the Cyclop was fought and head to the right.
Avoid the boulder-hurling Cyclop (Killing it rewards the player with a Health Heart on the Bonus Pedestal further).
Follow the path, defeat the Cyclop and head to the right.

The following area has a locked door. To get the key:

Go back to the left and jump off the cliff.
On the beach below, walk into the catapult.
Go back towards the gate, which can now be opened.

The area can now be left by jumping down the cliff on the right.

Optional: Before unlocking the gate, it is possible to get some extra goodies (these can be collected later in the game) by:

Dropping down to the beach with the catapult again.
Hopping into the water and swimming left along the cliff side. The water there is filled with fish so damage is inevitable.
Reaching the small beach with a broken-down boat, which can be lifted to find 2 pepper breaths.
Going further along the cliff side where lies another beach. The gate above can be unlocked with the key found before.

Another Key can be found there, plus there is an old man selling Evil Taboo for 6 Drachma (Herc can collect 9 coins on this level). After this detour it is unlikely that the hero will survive the same journey back, so the only way to get these goods is by dying, escaping the underworld and respawning with the goods at the beginning of the area.

One of the shepherds sells bombs which can be used to kill the boulder-hurling Cyclop and get the Health Heart.
This area will be revisited later in the game.
